A FEW WORDS ABOUT POETRY

Dear Friends,

Recently while working on a collection of poems, I began to realize how important poetry is in our lives even if we are among those who say: "I don't like poetry. I never read poetry. I can't write poetry. I don't understand poetry." In spite of these assertions, I see poetry coming into our lives right from the beginning and staying there, coming and going, until the very end.

At birth, we receive greetings and gifts mostly accompanied by little rhymes and poetic sayings from family and friends to celebrate our arrival. In addition, in our early years we are read to and sung to from a variety of poetry. Latter we experience poetry in children's movies and videos, coloring books, learning books, and sometimes even in games.

Then, as we enter the world of "school", poetry "gets to us" through music, street and play ground talk, games, notes from friends, comic books, exposure to Shakespeare, and even movies which use poetry to socialize and entertain. At this age we may also notice poetry on bus signs, billboards, birthday cards, in congratulations, in jokes. Just everywhere we are, especially today in the midst of pop culture, we are surrounded by a variety of rhyming rap music, lyrical commercials and streams of media which all weave poetic reflections in and out of our lives.

As we mature, there are poetic wedding vows, more songs, music, and movies. There are also the never ending speeches of politicians, talks by movie stars on talk shows and the influence of powerful executives who quote poetry as part of their desire to impress and to "win us over." At this stage in our life, we may go to plays, museums, poetry slams, operas, dances, yoga, street and art fairs, the mosque, the synagogue, and the church where with a little awareness we notice that all of these include poetic reflections, written verses, lyrical speeches and poetic music. This epic through poetry continues during our life even though as adults we may never pick up a book of poetry or write a poem or read the works of a famous poet. The poetry is always there working into our consciousness and staying in our bank of memories.

When the time comes for us to leave this world there is a very good chance that someone we love and someone who loves us will be there to read, quote, or sing in poetic verse the last words meant to honor our leaving this universe.

Poets, as artist painting in words, have been known to change the world and because of their profound poetic thoughts, have been in some cases tortured, imprisoned, rejected, banned, even killed. It is also true that the power of rhymes, songs and stories are often catalyst for political, social, and religious revolutions. Poets in all cultures are praised, admired, cherished, and honored because their words haunt our psyche and touch the very core of our being with love, anger, fear, peace, joy, rage, happiness, pain and sorrow.

I hope you will take these few words as inspiration to find the poetic reflections in your own life. Give your words merit by recording them so others can see, read and remember ... in some way we are all the poets of our own destiny.

FIERY WORD BEINGS

CELESTIAL HELPERS

Amber Angels, according to ancient Hebrew tradition are called: "Fiery Word Beings". What could be said about these angels of fire? Your fire angels do not come lightly into your destiny. When these angels appear, they bring heaven's calling to jump start your energy and to create new passions, new desires and new intellectual power for your life.

Among the archangels, Uriel is the Angel Of Fire. Uriel is the representation of Divine Spirit and a symbol of transformation. Uriel actually means, "fire of God". So look to Archangel Uriel as a symbol for truth, energy and transformation. Become your own "fiery word being" and speak about the truths in your life.

Is there some cause close to your heart that you feel passionately about? Today is the perfect day to share that passion. Talk may be "cheap" but when you talk about what actions you think needs to happen to bring about positive and supportive change - then your "talk" can be priceless in helping others. Stand up for yourself, your belief, your dreams, your feelings. Take the "talking stick" and express the energy you know comes as a gift from Great Spirit.

Remember to say the affirmations:
"I now speak the words of positive support and love for the truths in my world that I know and I believe in. I am inspired by the fire of energy and transformation to be the center of love for myself and others."

POWER, PASSION, PERMISSION - THE ART OF JOURNALING

Dear Readers,

To journal is one of the easiest yet most profound ways to recognize what you think, feel, desire and know and with this knowledge change your life. To journal is this unique act of expressing your passion, recognizing your power and giving yourself permission to be the whole and perfect person you are destined to be.

I once read even though angels have been known to inspire writers, they leave the actual writing to us. When you pick up a book with blank pages, think of yourself being connected to the heavenly forces above and the intuitive voice within and then give words to your imagination, your dreams, and your experiences. You will quickly learn, "The art of journaling." Before long you will look back and see just how easy it is to create a picture in writing of your inner self.

There are those days when I find it difficult to know what my emotions are revealing and what my feelings are longing to express. As soon as I reach for one of my journals and start writing, I see the reflection of what is really going on inside my spirit and then I make healthy decisions as to how to proceed. This makes my choices for being proactive very important. I stay balanced and my life moves forward. P.S. I know this blog is a form of journaling and you can keep a journal on your computer but I recommend a "hard copy" journal because I believe there is something far more personal and interactive about pen to paper and seeing in front of you what your expressions truly are. CHOOSING THE MOMENT

Dear Friends,

If you choose to live your life in the "power of the now," you will also be choosing to live your life in balance. The art of this life style which is also the heart of Destiny Bright is to paint the canvas of your life with choices made in the moment.

Choosing the moment springs from the intuitive well of who you are. Exactly how this works is a mystery to me but I do know that in each moment, from the center of your being, your soul self, is where the guidance for your destiny waits.

Choosing the moment does not necessarily mean living for the moment. Living for the moment can be self serving without any regard for lessons learned from the past or needs for insights into the future. True choosing the moment, living in the power of the now, can also mean reviewing the past or even planning for the future. This sounds reasonable but the major question is "How does one do this?"

In all the years in which I have been living intuitively, in the moment, from the center ... I have been using a combination of daily commitments to surround myself with support for building this incredible, creative and loving lifestyle.

These daily commitments include:

1) Affirmations as soon as I wake up, making a spiritual connection for guidance and protection.

2) Writing out what is on my mind and in my heart.

3) Reading whatever I find in other writers that inspires me and keeps me centered.

4) Energizing the mission of my vision quest through visualizing, prayer, and guided imagery.

5) Working out using yoga, relaxation, deep breathing, and music.

6) Sharing and appreciating the gifts of abundance, love, joy, happiness and prosperity.

Living a life using the above commitments is a real challenge and sometimes met with strange and stubborn obstacles, what I call "messengers of change and choice." However, not using these daily commitments to keep me in balance, gradually intrudes upon my quality of life and eventually the power to stay in the now and choose wisely in the moment.
